Bishop's Golf Day and blessing others

Bishop's Golf Day and blessing others

Thirty-six golfers competed recently at the annual Bishop’s Golf Day at New Judgeford Golf club.

Golfers played for the Danny Te Hiko Memorial Cup and raise funds for Wellington City Mission.

Bishop Justin said, “The Golf Day is a fun way to remember Danny and support the incredible mahi of the City Mission.”

“My golf wasn’t so hot but it was a wonderful day and credit must go to Keryn and the team for doing a splendid job.”

Keryn Martin, Manager for Bishop’s Community Development Trust, organised the event. He says being able to promote the work of the mission was a key factor.

“People were really impressed with Murray’s presentation. They support anyone in Wellington needing a hand. We applaud them.”

He also said a big thanks should go to the New Judgeford Golf Club for generously hosting us, Moana Road and John Daiysh for donating prizes.

The tournament uses an ambrose format in teams of four in an effort to level the playing field and emphasize fun.

Prizes were awarded to lowest team score, longest drive and closest to the pin.

Next year, we’ll place the spotlight on one of the BCDT organisations.

“I think people will be impressed by the amazing work by the Trust’s BCDT supports. These Trust’s have great passion and skill in effecting positive change in their communities. Stay tuned as we profile more of these groups to you,” says Keryn.
